rain on parade

Ok, this is the 4th or 5th time we’ve had a major event planned that required decent weather and we had to call it off.  Yeah, I know, I’m a slow learner!  But I have learned that it’s not just events that get thrown a curve ball – it’s also LIFE!

The Apostle Paul wrote,

We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken.  We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit.  We are hunted down, but God never abandons us.  We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.  2 Co 4:8-9 (The Living Bible)

So what do you do when life rains on your parade?

1. You don’t give up, you get up!  I love what Marc Burnett, the wildly successful creator of the Bible TV series, said at this year’s Global Leadership Summit.  After hearing NO over and over from Hollywood, he said, “All I kept hearing was NO – Next Opportunity!”

2. You shift your focus from your problems to your Provider.  News flash!  The worst problem you ever faced in this life was solved 2,000 years ago on a cross.  Compared to an eternity separated from the love of God, all of my current problems are simply annoyances.

3. You choose to channel your energy.  Your problems do not have to define you. In life you can either let your problems deter you or stir you.  You can channel your energy into whining and complaining about the problem or you can channel it to become the solution.  God uses people who are determined to use their lives for His glory no matter what the price.

Don’t let satan bench you.

Step right back up to the plate and SWING!
